Soda Bay Corridor Evacuation Planning Meeting September 25
California Fire Safe Council Grant-Funded Effort to Increase Riviera Communities’ Preparedness
Lake County, CA (August 28, 2023) – Recent years have taught Lake County residents a wildfire can occur at any time. Advances in fire suppression technology and a statewide commitment to improved resource availability and adequacy have broadly improved our preparedness. Many recent fires have been quickly stopped, thanks to swift action by firefighters and other first responders.
However, with wildfire starts frequent and fuel conditions increasingly dry, being prepared to evacuate populous areas in an orderly manner is essential.
The Lake County Department of Public Works (DPW) invites you to a public meeting toward development of a Soda Bay Corridor Evacuation Plan. This event will be held Monday, September 25, from 4:30-7:30pm, at the Riviera Heights Homeowners Association clubhouse.
DPW staff are grateful to partner with the Konocti Fire Safe Council in this critical California Fire Safe Council grant-funded planning effort.
Residents will be aware, the Soda Bay Corridor consists of three main arterial roads which serve as primary evacuation routes for multiple densely-populated Riviera communities: Soda Bay Road, Point Lakeview Road, and SR 281.
Members of the public, and particularly residents of the affected communities, are encouraged to learn more about the plan and share your feedback. A presentation will play on a loop during this open-house format meeting, and team members will be on hand to answer any questions.
Public comments can be submitted manually and virtually via a web-based survey. The online survey will open at the meeting and will be available for 30 days after.
